Audio & Video Production Technology

Western Piedmont Community College’s Audio and Video Production Technology program prepares our students to compete in the high-skills market of audio and video production capture, team-based communication, production planning, postproduction, and distribution. Courses in the degree target up-to-date technologies and practices that help our graduates obtain careers in the fast-paced field of audio and video production media.  Students will also study current and emerging trends in audio/video production media, revenue models, and entrepreneurial opportunities. Hands-on training in production media equipment, troubleshooting, collaboration, and time management skills are essential to the instructional process.

Audio and Video Production Technology is housed with two additional New Media degree’s including Digital Effects and Animation Technology and Simulation and Game Development. Our faculty and staff are committed to offering quality instruction and resources for all three media production programs while exposing a variety of career pathways. With all classes being offered as Hyflex, AVP students will be positioned to graduate with skills sets in remote communication, collaboration, and media management.

If you graduate with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Audio and Video Production Technology at WPCC, you will be prepared for jobs such as:

  • Audio and Video Live Streaming Specialist 

Positions are available in a variety of industries, including film, broadcast, internet, advertising, corporate, and educational organizations. Freelance opportunities are also available for graduates. Statistics from ONET Online suggest that the salary (median to high) range for multimedia artists and animators in North Carolina is from $59,180 to $91,050 per year. 

What You Will Study

Associate in Applied Science Degree

WPCC’s two-year program has 65 hours of coursework and laboratory experiences using a variety of computer tools. The WPCC Audio and Video Production Technology provides opportunities for transfer to area four-year colleges and universities to complete bachelor’s degrees in related fields of study.
